POSITION: Program/Administrative Assistant

LOCATION: Davenport Resource Service Center, 150 Church St., Davenport, CA 95017 (Davenport is approximately 10 miles North of City of Santa Cruz)

REPORTS TO: Program Director

HOURS/STATUS: 25 hrs. per week

SALARY: $17-$18 per hour

BENEFITS: 24 days per year annual leave to start (pro-rated) and 12 paid holidays per year (pro-rated), and retirement plan option after 6 months.

The Program/Administrative Assistant at the Davenport Resource Service Center provides administrative services to assist the Program Director and helps with general program functions related to the daily operations of the Center, conducts outreach to area farm workers and families, and coordinates the Center’s Food Distribution program.


A. Responsible for providing administrative assistance including clerical support, answering phones, data entry, record-keeping, assisting with reports to funders, correspondence, and maintenance of electronic and physical client files; under direction, creating fliers, PowerPoint presentations and social media postings.

B. Responsible for providing client assistance including form-assistance, translation, advocacy, outreach and referrals as needed;

C. Responsible for overseeing and operating the Center’s Food Distribution program, including onsite and offsite food distributions, food pantry, and food delivery to local farms;

D. Responsible for assisting in providing outreach and recruitment services to area low-income, senior, and farmworker clients, including in person, virtual, phone/Zoom, and social media.

E. Responsible for maintaining excellent client service with north coast residents, farms, and the local school;
F. Assist with other DRSC programs as needed, including Summer Youth Recreation programming;
G. Assist in communicating with community partners for resources, referrals and workshop collaborations.
H. Assist with community and fundraising events, event preparation, delivery, and follow up/’tracking.
I. Attend related meetings, take meeting minutes as needed and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.


❖ AA degree and/or equivalent of 2 years of outreach, administrative duties and/or related experience.
❖ Bilingual/biliterate (Able to speak, read and write English/Spanish) REQUIRED; bicultural preferred.
❖ Experience working with farmworkers and/or low-income persons strongly preferred.
❖ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (Word, Access, Teams, PPT, etc.); ability to keyboard 35 wpm.
❖ Excellent organizational, customer service and verbal and written communication skills (English and Spanish).
❖ Strong initiative and willingness to pitch in as needed; Outstanding follow-through with tasks.
❖ The ability to work cooperatively, respectfully and non-judgmentally with diverse cultures, ages, and interests.
❖ Knowledge and familiarity with the Santa Cruz County network of health, social service and related agencies.
❖ Ability to work some evening hours on a weekly basis and occasional weekend hours required.
❖ Safe driving record, current CA driver’s license and insured vehicle REQUIRED.
❖ Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach and routinely safely lift up to 25 pounds.
❖ Ability to pass background check in order to work with children and seniors.
❖ Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
