Opportunities are available in a variety of capacities across all of our programs. If you are ready to begin your commitment to support CAB we are thrilled to have you join us! If you require additional information, you can find a list of possible volunteer activities, by program, below. Please note that the list of opportunities is not exhaustive. As such, if a program that you are interested in supporting is not listed, please identify that program on your application and your information will be routed to the appropriate personnel.

Administration

The administrative staff in our Watsonville location is consistently seeking talented professionals to offer support to all of the agency’s six programs. This is a great opportunity to develop professional skills and learn how to impact change from the inside out. To be successful in supporting the Administrative team a volunteer could be someone with any of the following skills or interests:

  1. Someone who loves to write, proof content, and create new content
  2. Someone who is interested in graphics or has a keen eye for design
  3. Someone with a marketing or public relations background
  4. Has an ability to see the “bigger picture”
  5. Is strong in supporting a management team to ensure high levels of service delivery
  6. Event planning or event coordination. Support around events can also be event specific (i.e. single day or one time support for a specific event)
  7. Excellent organizational skills
  8. Has an ability to motivate team members or other volunteers to support varying projects
  9. Has a desire to engage with the community to provide education on agency services
  10. We have a multitude of varying opportunities and needs, as such if something you are strong suited or interested in that is not listed, let’s discuss!

Davenport Resource Service Center

The Davenport Resource Service Center (DRSC) is on the rural north coast and is in need of support to ensure effective service delivery. This is a great opportunity for a volunteer interested in any of the follow opportunities

  1. teen center mentor
  2. Homework club tutor
  3. Food and form distribution assistant
  4. Summer program assistant
  5. Event/Fundraiser coordinator assistant
  6. Volunteer coordinator intern
  7. Volunteer receptionist/administrator assistant volunteer
  8. Maintenance/Landscaping volunteer
  9. Senior needs assistant

The Rental Assistance Program

The Rental Assistance Program (RAP) has locations in downtown Watsonville and in Santa Cruz and currently provides homelessness prevention support to those most impacted in our community.

Volunteering with RAP is a great opportunity to work directly on the frontlines with our clients, our agency partners, and supporters providing critical services and information.

Opportunities include but are not limited to:

  1. Learn eligibility requirements to provide direct client assistance
  2. Answer and return client calls with inquires or referral requests
  3. Offer client support while completing eligibility documentation and applications
  4. Community outreach to distribute information in areas with available funding

Direct client assistance does require Spanish speaking volunteers and an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. The location of service delivery will vary on needs of the program and volunteer availability.

Santa Cruz County Immigration Program (SCCIP)

The Santa Cruz County Immigration Program has been greatly impacted by a shifting political environment and requires support in all areas related to service delivery.

Opportunities include but are not limited to:

1.Provide direct client assistance in all areas of immigration support including:

  1. Citizenship applications
  2. Interview preparation
  3. Deferred Action (DACA)
  4. Adjustment of status cases
  5. Changes of address
  6. ICE and consular inquiries
  7. Applications for permanent residence
  8. Relative visa petitions
  9. Replacement or renewal of green cards and work permits
  10. Temporary Protected Status
  11. Income Tax Assistance
  12. Immigrations Consumer Complaints
  13. Border Patrol abuse monitoring
  14. Attorney referrals
  15. Workplace discrimination complaints
  16. Know your rights

2. Answer and return client calls with inquires or referral requests

3. Offer client support while completing documentation and applications

4. Provide staff with community outreach support to distribute vital information around changing immigration policies

Direct client assistance does require Spanish speaking volunteers and an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. The location of service delivery will vary on needs of the program and volunteer availability.
